HeartS Design Heirloom Teddy Bears
Email me at: Mary@heartsdesign.com

Before you trash that fur coat hanging in your attic or storage send it to me and I will make an heirloom teddy bear for you. You'll probably never wear it anyway, and what a nice remembrance of the person who owned it. And you get a great collectible heirloom to pass down to future generations.
I have been making Heirloom bears since 1993. I started because I had trouble finding the “just right” fur for my creations. A fur coat of my mothers hung in my sewing room. Looking at it triggered an idea to use it for my bear. Everyone
who saw it loved it, and an idea was born - Use old coats for the fabric. Since then, I scour the yard sales and flea markets looking for just the right coat.
What kind of fabrics can I
use? Just about
anything. Quilts, blankets, any kind of coats, neck ties, (I will need more then
one), dresses, w
edding gowns.. What ever you have that you would like to keep around. This is a bear made from a wedding gown. Notice the footpad has the wedding date embroidered on it.
They are 20 inches tall and have jointed arms, legs and neck. Each bear has my signature letter “S” embroidered in the center of a heart on the right footpad. (or I can embroider your loved ones initials.)
Or if they had a special hobby I can embroider something custom to the
pad.
Check out my Happy Bears Page for
examples of custom pads I have made for others.
Their body is lined with a second skin method that I use to help in the construction and wear of the bear. I use the linings and buttons or
anything else special from the coat in the construction of your heirloom. Many times monograms of previous coat owners found inside the coats are reused in the clothing or insides of vests.
If you would like to have a bear made from your coat the price would be $150.00 I am working on about a six months waiting list, however if you need your bear for a special occasion, email me and we'll work with you.
By turning your old fur coat into an Heirloom bear you will have something that can be displayed, and the ancestor who owned it remembered each time you look at it.
Contact me either by email or phone. If you want to mail a fur to me, I would suggest you send it priority thru the
USPost office, insured and return receipt.
